Engineer (Shipyard Services)
Muara Maritime Services Sdn Bhd (“MMS”) is a joint venture company responsible for providing maintenance, repair and overhaul services (MRO) to Royal Brunei Navy (“RBN”) vessels and dockyard infrastructure. We are looking for highly motivated and suitably qualified Bruneian professionals to fill the following positions:
Engineer (Shipyard Services)
The Engineer (Shipyard Services) reports to a supervisor or Senior Engineer and is responsible for the efficient maintenance of mechanical systems within the Shiplift operations. This role involves not only hands-on maintenance but also supervision of subordinates to ensure quality work and optimal efficiency by utilizing the right techniques and appropriate tools and equipment. The incumber will also participate in activities such as trials, investigations, inspections, and system operation checks.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and perform maintenance on mechanical systems of Shiplift, including wire ropes, lower and upper sheave bearings, trestles, cradles, capstans, and Bogies.
- Schedule and manage preventive maintenance for Shiplift and their respective transfer systems, such as greasing wire ropes and lower and upper sheave bearings.
- Lead and conduct functionality tests on Hydraulic Power Pack motors, control systems of Shiplift, and Bogies.
- Perform System Operation Checks for Shiplift, either as a routine or before docking/undocking operations.
- Lead and operate Bogies and manage the movement of trestles/cradles during docking/undocking operations.
- Seek assistance from the Dockyard Coordinator to address any shortcomings that may affect the section’s efficiency and propose solutions to any problems.
- Responsible for monitoring and assessing hazardous and unsafe situations and developing measures to ensure personnel safety.
- Perform additional duties within Shipyard Services when required, including but not limited to supporting electrical maintenance and handling mooring line maneuvering during the docking/undocking operations of RBN vessels.
Requirements:
- Citizen or Permanent Resident of Brunei Darussalam.
- Minimum of Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mechanical Engineering with 3 years’ experience in related work field.
- Demonstrated capacity to work with minimal supervision, excel under pressure, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- High-level technical expertise and a proactive approach.
- Effective communication skills with strong analytical and problems-solving abilities.
- Flexibility to work beyond standard hours when necessary.
- Adaptability to various working conditions, including confined spaces, high-temperature environments, and elevated areas.
- Commitment to upholding Occupational Health and Safety standards.

Project Engineer (Engineering)

Project Engineer (Engineering)
The Project Engineer is accountable to the Head of Engineering Department and responsible for coordinating and managing projects involving changes, upgrades, and refits to vessels of the Royal Brunei Navy. The incumbent works closely with the Head of Engineering to define project scopes, create plans, and ensure project progress, budget, and quality are maintained. This role involves instructing staff and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), monitoring project timelines, and preparing technical specifications for procurement. Additionally, the Project Engineer plays a key role in adapting documentation to accommodate changes in naval systems and performs quality assurance on new documentation. They serve as a point of contact for coordinating OEMs during surveys and maintenance tasks for electronic systems, including component interfaces within complex naval systems. The Project Engineer is responsible for generating and assessing concepts, ensuring compatibility between components, and sharing knowledge within the Engineering Department.
Responsibilities:
- Develop comprehensive project plans for upgrades, changes, repairs, and maintenance using MS Project.
- Create detailed scopes of work and associated project documentation.
- Oversee project progress, monitoring timelines, and quality standards.
- Coordinate project participants and allocate necessary resources within the Engineering Department.
- Prepare technical specifications for Requests for Quotations to facilitate procurement processes.
- Define and ensure compatibility of interfaces between components within complex systems.
Requirements:
- Citizen or Permanent Resident of Brunei Darussalam.
- Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Electronic / Marine Engineering or Naval Architect or in any related technical / engineering field.
- Minimum of 3 years of Project Management experience in the naval domain or a comparable complex industrial/aircraft business.
- Prior experience in the shipbuilding industry, ship operations, or similar complex systems.
- Experience in maintenance, repair, system upgrades, and analyzing and composing requirements for electronic systems (including interfaces between electronic components).
- Effective team player with strong communication and leadership capabilities.
- Results-oriented with the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently.
- Proficient in Technical English, MS Office, and project management.
- Adaptable, solution-focused, and open to innovation.
- Highly motivated and capable of motivating and coaching team members.
